PROSTest Results

How to understand your PROSTest score and what to do next

About the PROSTest Score

The PROSTest result is presented as a single score between 0 and 100%. This score reflects the likelihood of clinically significant prostate cancer based on the gene activity detected in your blood sample.

  • Score < 50%
Indicates a low likelihood of prostate cancer at the time of testing. Your doctor may recommend continued monitoring, PSA tracking, or other non-invasive follow-up especially if you have known risk factors.

  • Score ≥ 50%
Indicates an elevated likelihood of prostate cancer. Your physician may recommend additional evaluation, such as imaging or biopsy, to confirm a diagnosis and guide next steps.

What Your Score Means

Score Range Interpretation Recommended Action
0–49% Low likelihood of prostate cancer Discuss routine monitoring or follow-up with your provider
50–69% Intermediate likelihood May warrant further evaluation (e.g., imaging, biopsy) depending on clinical context
70–100% High likelihood Strongly consider additional diagnostic workup and/or referral to a specialist

Note: PROSTest is not a standalone diagnostic. Results should be interpreted in context of your full clinical picture including PSA levels, DRE findings, age, family history, and other relevant data.

How to read your result:

  • A score below 50% is considered negative, meaning a low likelihood of prostate cancer.

  • A score of 50% or higher is positive, indicating a higher likelihood of prostate cancer and the need for further evaluation.

Your provider will use this result—along with your PSA levels, physical exam, imaging, and personal risk factors—to help decide next steps.
