Since you received surgery, it might be beneficial for you to conduct a Decipher test on your surgical prostate tissue to assess if further treatment may be necessary down the line. Patient's that would benefit from a Decipher test are those who demonstrated high risk features on their final pathology, such as evidence of positive surgical margins, evidence of cancer escaping outside the prostate (known as extraprostatic extension), high grade cancer (greater than or equal to Gleason 8), positive seminal vesicles, or positive lymph nodes. This test was designed to look at many different genes to determine a man's overall risk of having PSA failure 5 years after treatment. There are many factors that contribute to the outcome of these tests. Only you and your health care provider should decide what steps to take.  Click Here to return to the home page.
