As you can see in our PCMs algorithm, those who have a Gleason score of greater than or equal to 7 (4+3) should have a discussion with their health care provider about some form of treatment. However, for some patients that fit into this category, a Decipher Biopsy, OncotypeDX and/or Prolaris test may be beneficial. These tests analyze specific genes that, when tested, have the ability to show if certain prostate cancers have may have the potential to behave more aggressively, and will allow your health care provider to determine if active surveillance may be possible or further treatment is necessary.
