As you can see in our PCMs algorithm, we recommend men with a PSA less than 1.5 to be re-screened in 5 years by their health care provider. This is because research has shown men with PSAs below 1.5 are at extremely low risk of having prostate cancer. This PSA of 1.5 cutoff is based on our paper, which can be found in our references and downloads section. However, we recommend you closely follow the recommendations of your health care provider if there are other suspicious indicators of prostate cancer, such as an abnormal digital rectal examination, severe urinary problems, and pelvic bone pain, to name a few.
